Trio Of 'Micro' Quakes Rattle SoCal Coast
SAN PEDRO (CBSLA.com) — Three small earthquakes struck off the Southern California coast on Friday.
The biggest was a magnitude-3.0 earthquake struck at 4:25 a.m. in the San Pedro Channel, six miles south of Rancho Palos Verdes, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).
That quake was preceded six minutes earlier by a magnitude-2.9 temblor in the same area. A third quake measuring magnitude 2.7 hit at 4:47 a.m., according to the USGS.
There were no immediate reports of injury or damage.
Any quake measuring under magnitude 3.0 is considered a "micro" quake.
