Downed Tree Crushes Cars Outside Historic Anaheim Home
ANAHEIM (CBSLA.com) —A fallen tree crushed three cars outside a historic Anaheim home, possibly because of a storm moving through the Southland, according to officials.
The incident was reported around 11:30 p.m. Thursday near Lemon and Adele streets, where residents say a 100-year-old oak tree came down onto an apartment and caused damage to the roof, CBS2/KCAL9's Jeff Nguyen reported.
A power line was clipped as well, briefly affecting service in the area.
Resident Ana Butler, who lives inside the home reportedly built in 1908, said she was sitting on her bed when she heard the tree fall.
"It got quiet, and then all of a sudden you hear you this loud 'Boom'," said Butler. "And my whole house shook, just this one big jolt.
"I thought it was an earthquake," she added.
No injuries were reported.
A combination of last night's rain and the age of the tree caused it to uproot, an Anaheim Public Works spokesperson told Nguyen.
Crews begun removing the tree from power lines early this morning, officials said.
