Traffic Signal To Be Inaugurated On Busy Reseda Street
NORTHRIDGE (CBS) — A new traffic signal will be inaugurated Monday morning at a busy Reseda Boulevard intersection where a CSUN exchange student was struck by a car and nearly killed in 2008.
The light will serve people crossing from the campus area to the numerous eateries and student serving shops on the west side of the street.
City council member Greig Smith will activate the light at 11 a.m. Monday.
"This new traffic signal will protect lives," Smith said in a statement released Sunday. "Vehicle, pedestrian and bike traffic along the Reseda corridor are so heavy that consider the safest possible way for them to cross paths."
No fewer than seven pedestrians have been struck by vehicles in the past three years near CSUN, a university with nearly 30,000 students.
