Traffic Backed Up For Miles Following Deadly Crash On 405 Freeway In Van Nuys
VAN NUYS (CBS) — Traffic is backed up for miles on the northbound 405 Freeway as crews work to remove a pickup truck that collided into a freeway bridge.
The silver Chevy pickup truck was reportedly moving at a high speed when it plowed through the center divider, crashing into the tower supporting a freeway overpass at Burbank Boulevard.
Emergency crews were called to the scene at approximately 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. The Los Angeles County Fire Department reported that the driver of the truck died in the crash.
Police officers closed several southbound lanes and all lanes of the northbound 405 Freeway as firefighters worked to clear the wreck, snarling traffic along the northbound lanes for miles.
