Trader Joe's Expands Frozen Vegetable Recalls Due To Potential Listeria Contamination

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Trader Joe's Monday extended its list of frozen vegetable recalls because of potential contamination of the bacterium - Listeria monocytogenes.

The latest round of recalls includes all lot and date codes of Trader Joe's Vegetable Fried Rice (SKU/Barcode 00521482) and Trader Joe's Chicken Fried Rice (SKU/Barcode 00332514).

Listeria primarily affects older adults, adults with weakened immune systems, pregnant women and newborns, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

On May 5, the company was alerted by its supplier, CRF Frozen Foods of Pasco, Washington, that packages of Trader Joe's Super Sweet Cut Corn (SKU/Barcode 00299633) were being recalled because it may contain Listeria monocytogenes as well.

On May 3, Trader Joe's issued recalls of the following frozen vegetables because they also may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes:

Trader Joe's Organic Peas (SKU/Barcode 00496636)
Trader Joe's Petite Peas (SKU/Barcode 00122689)
Trader Joe's Organic Whole Green Beans (SKU/Barcode 00169219)
Trader Joe's Organic Broccoli Florettes (SKU/Barcode 00542784)
Trader Joe's Organic Foursome (SKU/Barcode 00908672)

All of those recalled products have been removed from store shelves and destroyed, according to the grocery chain's website.

"If you purchased these products, please do not eat them. We urge you to discard the product or return it to any Trader Joe's for a full refund," Trader Joe's advised.
