Tracking Bracelets Help Bring Home Wandering Patients Quickly
LA VERNE (CBSLA.com) — With so many suffering from Alzheimer's disease, autism, Down syndrome, dementia and more wandering off, prompting a missing persons report, La Verne police has help in finding these people and bringing them safely home.
The La Verne Police Department this month began a partnership with Project Lifesaver International, which provides tracking devices to assist first responders in locating at-risk individuals who wander.
The program is being funded by a grant and allows the department to distribute the transmitter bracelets at no cost.
The service is free to La Verne residents who have been diagnosed with Alzheimer's, autism, Down Syndrome, developmental disorders and mental disabilities.
