Toddler Fatally Run Over In Compton Driveway
COMPTON (CBSLA.com/AP) — A Compton toddler was killed in a driveway accident, authorities said Monday.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department says the accident occurred Sunday night when the boyfriend of the little girl's mother was backing his pickup out of the driveway, unaware the 22-month-old had followed him outside.
The driver felt the truck run over something and discovered the child, who died at the scene.
"The mother was home during the incident. However, she was unaware her child was outside," authorities said in a statement.
Sheriff's officials say the driver did not appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol and there were no obvious signs of foul play.
