DA's Office: Final Decision Not Yet Made In Lohan Probe
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A spokeswoman for the L.A. County District Attorney's office is refuting a report that felony grand theft charges may be filed against Lindsay Lohan as early as Monday in connection with an alleged theft of a necklace.
"We have our investigation under review and a filing decision has not been made," Sandi Gibbons, spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, said.
The celebrity gossip web site, TMZ.com, reported Saturday that sources connected to the case told them that charges would be filed as early as Monday.
The one-time child star is accused of stealing a $2,500 necklace from a jewelry store in Venice in an incident that dates back to January 22.
"We vehemently deny these allegations and, if charges are filed, we will fight them in court, not in the press," Lohan's attorney, Shawn Chapman Holley, said in a statement released Saturday.
Lohan is also facing possible criminal charges for an alleged attack on a worker at the Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage, where she was undergoing a court-ordered drug rehabilitation program.
She is on probation for a 2007 drunken driving case.
