RIVERSIDE (AP) — A dozen people were killed and 58 others were wounded when a gunman opened fire during the midnight viewing of the new Batman movie "The Dark Knight Rises."
Police in Aurora, Colorado arrested a suspect, 24-year-old James Holmes. Here's a basic timeline for suspected Colorado theatre gunman.
Dec. 13, 1987: Born in San Diego County, California.
Parents: Robert Milton Holmes and Arlene Rosemary Holmes.
2006: Graduated from Westview High School, Class of 2006, according to Dr. John Collins, Superintendent of the Poway Unified School District.
2006 - 2010: Attended the University of California, Riverside, graduating with a BS in neuroscience in spring 2010. Chancellor Timothy P. White said Holmes graduated with honors.
2011: Holmes enrolled in the Ph.D. neuroscience program at the University of Colorado-Denver, said spokeswoman Jacque Montgomery.
May 2011: An Address of 1690 Paris Street, Aurora, Colo., for James Holmes shows up in public records searches.
July 20, 2012: Montgomery said Holmes "was in the process of withdrawing" from graduate school. The school said in a statement later that Holmes was a student there until early June 2012.
