Three Alleged Gang Members Charged In San Fernando Valley Burglaries

VAN NUYS (CBS) — Three alleged gang members were charged Thursday with burglaries at homes in the San Fernando Valley.

Quintin Moreland and Dwayne Seymore, both 23, are charged with one count each of first-degree residential burglary and receiving stolen property, along with the allegation that the crimes were committed to benefit a gang, according to Deputy District Attorney Janet Fox.

The two are accused of breaking into a home Tuesday on Aetna Street in Woodland Hills.

Authorities said a new LAPD task force stopped the two in a rental car and allegedly found property in the vehicle's trunk that appeared to be stolen.

Moreland and Seymore were on probation in another burglary case, and Moreland was wanted on a felony warrant charging him with a 2010 kidnapping and rape, according to the District Attorney's Office.

Ryeheem Evans Johnson, 19, is charged separately with one count each of first-degree residential burglary and first-degree burglary with a person present.

He allegedly broke into a home March 29 in the 4300 block of Hazeltine Avenue in Van Nuys and stole jewelry, then was arrested Tuesday after allegedly breaking into a home in the 19400 block of Victory Boulevard in Reseda, according to the District Attorney's Office.

He allegedly ran from the scene when he realized the homeowner was inside the home and calling police, with responding officers arresting Johnson after a brief pursuit, authorities said.

Officers recognized Johnson from a poster made off of a video given to police by the homeowners whose home was burglarized March 29, according to the District Attorney's Office.

Moreland, Seymore and Johnson each pleaded not guilty this afternoon in Van Nuys Superior Court. They are due back April 16 for a hearing to determine if there is enough evidence to require them to stand trial.
