This Doughnut Shop In Riverside Among Luckiest In State, Calif. Lottery Says
RIVERSIDE (CBSLA.com) — A $22 million jackpot purchased at a local doughnut shop in Riverside remains unclaimed but the store's owner says she already feels like a winner.
"We're shocked because all of the customers came in and we didn't even know," said Evelyn Chu, the owner of Donut Tyme in Riverside, referring to the winning ticket.
The family owned shop has been around for 22 years and many customers have walked away with hundreds of thousands of dollars.
In fact, the California Lottery has the shop on their website as one of the luckiest stores in the state.
But, the store says, they don't know why they are so lucky.
The doughnut shop has been paying out at least 400 winning tickets per week over the past year.
"We've had some, we thought it was pretty big," said Chu. "One time, you know, $105,000. We've had $30.000."
That's why there is a line out the door.
The California Lottery says the $22 million winner has yet to come forward and has six months to claim the prize.
Meanwhile, the shop is expected to receive $110,000 and hopes to sell many more winning tickets.
