Theft Of 2 Drones From Van Nuys Business Is Caught On Video
VAN NUYS (CBSLA.com) — A man is accused of stealing two drones from a business in Van Nuys in an incident that was caught on surveillance video.
The Los Angeles Police Department says the man had brought a unit into the hobby store on Monday for repairs and made off two new drones and a remote control.
The incident happened at a drone store in the 16200 block of Victory Boulevard in Van Nuys about 5 p.m.
"Two officers were flagged down in the West Valley division," LAPD Detective Luie Velasquez said. "An owner of the store basically came out and said that he had been the victim of a grand theft."
Sergio Marachilian from the drone store said one of his clerks at the store was trying to get an estimate on the parts for the repair for the man, who allegedly grabbed two new models from the display.
Marachilian said they've filed a police report.
The detective said each drone was valued at $1,100, and the total loss was around $2,200.
