The Wait Is Over For Die-Hard Black Friday Campers
COSTA MESA (CBSLA.com) — The wait is over for some Black Friday shoppers who have been camped out for days outside of stores in Southern California.
At a Best Buy in Costa Mesa, 600 or so people were in line for the midnight opening.
Ivan Guiterrez has been sleeping in a tent with his girlfriend and his family since Saturday outside of the electronics store.
They're in the coveted position—first in a line.
"Some people offered up to $100 (for me to buy them something), but I always said no. I didn't want to get in trouble. I didn't want to lose my spot," said Guiterrez.
Shoppers said they weren't ashamed to spend their time waiting….and waiting…and waiting.
"We're here for a 32-inch television for $97. You can't argue with that," said Jason Grace.
"It's one of those things you do once in your life," said Javier Millan, who ate his Thanksgiving dinner in line.
Customer Donna Cruz said, "You get the great deals. Everybody is out here. You meet different people. You make friends."
Unlike these shoppers, however, some people refused to spend the night outside of a store.
"We weren't that crazy," a man told KCAL9's Stacey Butler.
