'The Tourist Bandit' Holds Up Venice Bank Of America
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A suspect who held up a Bank of America branch in Venice Wednesday was probably the same person who robbed another one of the bank's offices in West Hollywood on Monday, according to the FBI.
The suspect, dubbed "The Tourist Bandit," escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash in the latest holdup, which occurred around 11:50 a.m. at the branch near Windward Avenue and Pacific Avenue, said Laura Eimiller of the FBI.
He appeared to be in his late 40s, wore a baseball camp and a dark gray or blue hooded sweatshirt with yellow letters spelling out "Venice Beach" on it, she said.
The bandit told a manager that he had a bomb and a gun trained on a teller and wanted large bills, Eimiller said.
She said the man is believed to be the same suspect who held up a BofA at 8025 Santa Monica Blvd. in West Hollywood on Monday.
He was last seen on foot going northbound onWindward Circle.
