According to the Irvine Chamber, visitors contribute to more than half a billion dollars to the local economy. The Southern California region is a top choice for out-of-towners when it comes to a vacation destination throughout the year. The picturesque locations and the idealistic weather conditions bring many in, and even during the holiday season there are many events that take place in Orange County that will give a good mix of the Orange County feel and holiday season.

Thanksgiving Meals To Go At The Marketplace

This year, Chef Kevin takes the stress out of preparing Thanksgiving dinner with the main course, sides and a dessert at the Marketplace. Pick up starts on Wednesday, Nov. 25 from noon to 6 p.m. The following are the meal options to mix and choose from: Everything but the Sink includes the complete Thanksgiving meal that is packed to-go with one main course, five sides, one dessert and dinner rolls with butter. This serves up to six people and costs $192. Main Course Mastery serves up to six people and includes one main course with a price tag of $108. Accompaniments for All serves up to six people and is the best for those who choose to cook the main meal and want leave the Marketplace to cook up all the sides and dessert. Over in the city of Brea is the Nutcracker Craft Boutique on Nov 20-21 (rain or shine). From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. the Brea Community Center is a great place to by one-of-a-kind holiday gifts, crafts and collectibles from more than 250 vendors. Admission is only $2.00 (free for children under 12) and parking is free.

One thing that locals and visitors will enjoy is the Ice Rink at the Irvine Spectrum during the holidays. The skating season for the Spectrum starts on Oct. 2 and goes until Feb. 15, 2016. All ticket purchases are available at the Ice Rink Box Office at the Gian Wheel Court. Make sure to check here for the daily schedule and holiday schedules for times of availability. This is a great place for outsiders to enjoy the outdoor shopping at the Spectrum and do some traditional holiday activities at the same time.

Thanksgiving is one of the first events that brings in the Holiday season. It is the transition from the fall season into the holiday season. One event in Orange County that does a great job embracing the OC culture and the transition into the holiday season is the Surfing Santa Competition at The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel. Originally started with the general manager of The Ritz-Carlton, Bruce Brainerd, the one-day surf contest was started to benefit Surfers Healing.
