Tense El Monte Barricade Situation Involving Parolee Ends Peacefully
EL MONTE (CBSLA.com) — A tense barricade situation reported in El Monte Friday afternoon ended with the suspect, a parolee, being taken into custody.
The incident started around 1:30 p.m. Friday, according to officials.
At 4 p.m., Meghan Reyes in Sky9, called it "an active scene with lots of police and SWAT officers."
Officials didn't want Reyes to report the home's exact location but the incident took place near the 11000 block of Ferris.
Authorities said they tried to serve an arrest warrant on a parolee for an assault that took place recently in Covina.
Reyes said at least ten homes in the immediate area were evacuated as a precaution.
The parolee, describes as a man in his mid-20s, was holed up in an apartment complex for nearly four hours.
In addition to police and SWAT, agents from the Marshals Service Regional Fugitive Task Force also aided in the suspect's capture.
