Temecula Neighborhood Shocked That Neighbor Would Pull Gun On Girl Scout
TEMECULA (CBSLA.com) — A Temecula neighborhood is in disbelief Monday after hearing one of their neighbors pulled a gun on a Girl Scout who had knocked on his door to sell him cookies.
"As innocent as selling Girl Scout cookies? A simple knock on the door and you pull a gun on someone?" neighbor Jacques Joseph said. "It's just crazy."
Police say when a young girl and her father knocked on the front door of a home on Strawberry Tree Lane in Temecula Sunday, 59-year-old John Dodrill opened the door with a gun pointed at the girl. The child's father was just a few feet away and called police.
"It's something you don't expect," said one neighbor who declined to give her name. "You hear a lot of things in the news these days about people going crazy and doing horrible things but you wouldn't expect something (like) that with a little girl and her wagon and her Girl Scout cookies."
Neighbors describe Dodrill as an introvert who routinely went from his car to his home and back again without speaking to anyone.
Dodrill, whose weapon was seized by sheriff's deputies, remains in jail on $25,000 bail. He is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday.
