Teenage Rape Suspects Appear In Riverside Juvenile Court
EASTVALE (CBSLA.com) — Two teenage rape suspects made their first juvenile court appearance Thursday in Riverside County.
"Both teens, ages 16 and 15, have each been charged with one count each of statutory rape, sodomy by force in concert, felony sexual battery and oral copulation by force," John Hall of the District Attorney's Office said.
The suspects, whose names were not released due to their age, are accused of raping a fellow classmate in the restroom at Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Eastvale on the evening of Sept. 25.
School administrators were notified of the incident after they received an anonymous call.
The 16-year-old suspect, who students say is a junior on the school's football team, was arrested Monday on campus. The other suspect is reportedly a former Roosevelt student who was recently expelled. The former student was taken into custody off school grounds.
The teens are accused of statutory rape, forcible sodomy in concert, forced oral copulation and felony sexual battery, according to Hall.
IIn court, both of the accused denied the allegations against them.
Both suspects were released to the custody of their parents and ordered to "strict" 24-hour parental supervision until their next court date, which is scheduled for Nov. 7.
"On behalf of the school community, I want to thank the anonymous caller who brought this matter to our attention and spurred this investigation," school Communications manager Evita Gonzalez said. "The safety and well-being of our students is of paramount importance to everyone in our District."
Anyone with more information about this case is asked to call deputies at the Jurupa Valley Sheriff's Station at (951) 955-2600.
