Ex-Boyfriend Suspected Of Fatally Stabbing 16-Year-Old Girl In Pico Rivera Home
PICO RIVERA (CBSLA.com) — Homicide detectives Friday investigated the stabbing death of a 16-year-old girl in Pico Rivera.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, deputies were sent shortly after 3 a.m. to a home located in the 9800 block of Shade Lane for report of a deadly stabbing incident.
Authorities pronounced Elena Lillian Moore dead at the scene.
A preliminary investigation revealed the victim's mother called 911 after her daughter ran upstairs screaming and bleeding.
The suspect is believed to have entered the residence through the back door. It is unclear if he forced entry or was allowed in by the victim, known to her loved ones as Lily.
Prior to her death, the teenager told her mother that her ex-boyfriend stabbed her in their living room, CBS2's Joy Benedict reported.
Detectives say the couple dated for about a year and broke up two weeks ago. It remains unclear if they went to school together.
Sheriff's investigators identified 17-year-old Rory Murga as a person of interest in Moore's death.
CBS2's Stacey Butler spoke to friends and family who were in a state of shock over the slaying.
"Everything seemed fine," said cousin Denver Esparaza, "they seemed happy. I saw them walking around the neighborhood."
Many of the victims friends and family made an appeal to Murga to turn himself in.
