Teen To Be Tried In Shooting Death Of Gay Student
VENTURA (AP) — Jury selection begins next month in the first-degree murder trial of a Southern California teenager for the classroom shooting of a gay 15-year-old.
A Ventura County judge this week set May 16 for the start of Brandon McInerney's trial.
The now-17-year-old McInerney is being tried as an adult for the Feb. 12, 2008, shooting death of Larry King at E.O. Green School in Oxnard. McInerney is also charged with a hate crime because he allegedly had adopted white supremacist views and King professed to be gay.
The Ventura County Star says the jury will be selected from a pool of Santa Barbara County residents. Testimony will be heard in Ventura.
