Teen Charged In Torrance Classroom Rampage
TORRANCE (AP) — A student at West High School in Torrance has been charged with setting a fire, punching a teacher and stabbing a girl in a classroom attack.
The Torrance Daily Breeze says 18-year-old Jessie Morehead was charged Thursday with assault with a deadly weapon and other crimes. He remains jailed Friday.
Authorities say Morehead was ordered to sit down during a psychology class on Wednesday but instead he lit a roll of paper towels, threw them at the teacher, stabbed a 17-year-old girl who reportedly had spurned his love letters, knocked down the teacher when she tried to stop him and finally was tackled by another student.
The girl who was stabbed received only minor cuts.
