Teen Boy Reportedly Walks In On 2 Men Robbing His Glendale Home
GLENDALE (CBSLA.com)— A 17-year-old boy came home from school to find two burglars ransacking the residence.
The men prevented the teen from leaving the house, located in the 700 block of Dale Avenue, SKY9's Stu Mundel reported.
"They could have tied him on the chair. They could have hurt the kid or something like that," said Jerry Ayvazyn, the victim's uncle.
The robbers didn't harm the teen. They instead used the boy to help them rob the home.
"He said they put a shirt over his face and said, 'OK, tell me where everything is,' like valuables and money, stuff like that," said the boy's friend Michael Sanvictores.
The suspects eventually released the teen and fled.
Police were called just after 2:30 p.m. and they immediately set up a perimeter around the area.
Neighbors said the area has been targeted by thieves over the last few years.
"It is unnerving because during the day, even though people are here in broad daylight, they're still attempting to break in, so it's uncomfortable," neighbor Rochelle Sanvictores said.
Glendale police said the area is a prime target for criminals because they can easily access the Golden State (5) and Ventura (134) freeways as escape routes.
