TCM Film Festival Shows Digitally Restored Classic Movies On Big Screen
HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — The TCM Film Festival is bringing back a number of classics to the big screen as they have never seen before.
Many films are being restored in 4K resolution at Sony Pictures, while over 100 films have already been completely restored.
Among the films whose restorations have been completed are Funny Girl (1968) and The Big Parade (1925). Both films are featured on the big screen at the TCL Chinese Theater during the festival.
The musical film Funny Girl, which marked the beginning of Barbra Streisand's illustrious big screen career, has been digitally restored and kicked-off the four-day festival on Thursday evening.
The 1925 World War One film The Big Parade will also get its premiere over the weekend.
Both films have been restored for upcoming Blu-Ray releases.
Funny Girl is set to be released on Blu-Ray on Tuesday from Sony Pictures, while The Big Parade will be introduced on Blu-Ray this Fall.
According to the TCM Classic Film Festival's website, The Big Parade will show at Chinese Multiplex 1 on Saturday at 3 p.m.
The world restoration premiere of Giant (1956), starting Rock Hudson, Elizabeth Taylor, and James Dean, will also be shown on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the TCL Chinese Theater.
