Taste Of Soul's 10th Anniversary Brings Together Best Names In Food, Music
SOUTH LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The Taste of Soul extravaganza is celebrating its 10th anniversary Saturday.
More than 400 vendors, many of whom hail from South Los Angeles, will be on hand serving up delicious food and artisan wares.
Big-name performers such as Monica, Angie Stone and Joe will take one of the many stages set up along Crenshaw Boulevard, which is closed off for the event between Stocker and Rodeo roads.
More than 350,000 people took part in the festival.
CBS2 anchor Pat Harvey was an emcee on one of the main stages. She said she was excited to see how South LA is being
"You can look across the street any direction you still have businesses here, people are still raising families here and there are so many new and exciting things that are going on here," Harvey said, "I mean the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Mall that's more vibrant that ever so I'm very, very proud, I think it's a crown jewe."
CBS2's Laurie Perez talked to many of the folks who came for fun, food and soul.
"It's amazing," said one festival goer, "It tastes like soul!"
Perez said the festival literally gave people the chance to eat their way around the world and maybe dance back in time.
Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti also came to jam while some police officers got their boogie on.
