Tarzana Woman, 21, Turns Herself In As Driver Of Fatal Hit-And-Run In NoHo

NORTH HOLLYWOOD (CBS) — A 21-year-old Tarzana woman Sunday night turned herself into authorities and said she was the driver who fled after striking and killing a 70-year-old man in North Hollywood.

The crash happened about 1:40 a.m. Sunday as the man was crossing Saticoy Street just west of Atoll Avenue, according to Officer Karen Rayner of the LAPD.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was a Sun Valley resident.

Police said Alicia Carolina Benites turned herself in about 10 a.m.

Benites' car, a white four-door sedan, was impounded as evidence. Police said the vehicle matched one given by a witness.

She was booked for felony hit-and-run. Benites is being held on a bail of $50,000.
