Tampa Bay Buccaneers' Eric Wright Arrested For Drunk Driving After Collision
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — The Tampa Bay Buccaneers' Eric Wright was arrested Monday on suspicion of drunk driving following a collision in downtown Los Angeles.
Wright, 26, was booked on suspicion of felony DUI after his arrest at about 12:30 a.m. at James M. Wood Boulevard and Georgia Street, Los Angeles police spokeswoman Officer Rosario Herrera said.
Wright was released about 10:35 a.m. after posting $100,000 bail.
Wright was driving a Mercedes-Benz that collided with a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, Herrera said. Wright said he was not injured, but the other motorist complained of pain.
Wright allegedly told officers he had been drinking earlier at a friend's home in the Hollywood area, and refused to submit to a Breathalyzer or field sobriety test, LAPD Officer Norma Eisenman told the Los Angeles Times.
Wright played football at the University of Southern California. He was previously arrested in March 2005 on suspicion of rape in Los Angeles, but charges were never filed.
Wright transferred to the University of Nevada Las Vegas and later played for the Detroit Lions and Cleveland Browns before signing with Tampa Bay.
