Taco Bell Offers Free Tacos For City For Triple-A Team Name Change
FRESNO (CBSLA.com) — The Fresno Grizzlies Triple-A team changed its nickname to the Fresno Tacos for their fifth annual Taco Truck Throwdown event.
The event took place Thursday, and the Houston Astros Triple-A affiliate drew in a record crowd of 16,916.
The team wore jerseys with "Tacos" written across the front and wore caps that replaced the Grizzlies logo with a picture of a taco.
The team used the slogan, "This time, we are what we eat" to promote the Taco Truck Throwdown, and apparently gained some national attention as a result of the uniforms.
Irvine-based Taco Bell tweeted at the Fresno Grizzlies team offering them free tacos for the entire city of Fresno if it permanently change the name to the Tacos.

The team is trying to capitalize on the promotions popularity and is selling the Tacos cap on its website for $36. The team ended up winning the only game in which it suited up as the Tacos, and there is no word yet on if the team will accept the offer from Taco Bell.
However, the team is wearing their original "Grizzlies" uniforms as it plays Friday night at Chukchansi Park in Fresno.
