Sylmar Neighborhood Cleared After Tense Night
SYLMAR (CBS) — Los Angeles police called out numerous bomb squad officers and special weapons and tactics officers to assist in a search of a Sylmar home after receiving a tip that it may contain explosives or drugs.
The house in the 13800 block of Polk Street was cleared of any dangerous materials early Froday morning after authorities searched it for several hours.
"We found some liquids that we're in the process of trying to determine exactly what they are," Los Angeles police Capt. Joe Hiltner told reporters at the scene. "We found a rifle, a silencer, as well as a partially dismantled stolen vehicle in the rear."
Authorities had evacuated the home and nine people were taken into custody. However, only one person so far has been arrested for narcotics and weapons charges.
