SWAT Team In Sylmar Apprehends Person Of Interest In Valley Triple-Homicide
SYLMAR (CBSLA.com) — SWAT team members surrounded a house in Sylmar Sunday evening and apprehended a man they called "a person of interest" in a triple homicide in the San Fernando Valley.
Stu Mundel, reporting in Sky9, said the man was taken into custody after 9 p.m.
He reported that SWAT may have had to use a stun gun on the subject but police later said the man was taken into custody "without incident."
Earlier in the day, police said they were looking for two Latino men -- it is unclear when they focused on one person or if another is at-large.
At a press conference Sunday evening police said "there was a peaceful resolution to the situation."
The man was taken to the hospital for what police said were "minor injuries" and to be checked out.
Officials said the unidentified "person of interest" was not being called a suspect at this time. They also did not confirm if they were looking for a second suspect.
Police said the man in custody is possibly linked to a murderous spree across San Fernando, Sylmar and Pacoima that happened Sunday early morning. They were also looking to question him about a shooting Wednesday in Atwater Village that left a woman injured and another shooting in Pacoima Thursday that left a man dead.
Witnesses at the various crime scenes on Sunday all reported seeing a gold-colored SUV (either a Suburban or Tahoe), authorities said.
When asked if the car led them to the house in Sylmar, Captain Williams Hayes with the LAPD's Robbery Homicide Division, said that, "other evidence led us here today."
The person of interest lives in the 13000 block of Kismet Street.
Police said they arrived at the man's home and he refused to come out, forcing a standoff with SWAT officers.
On Sunday, three people were killed with four more wounded, including one gravely.
Five members of one family, in a van and headed to church, were all shot, police said. The fatality at that crime scene was a 22-year-old woman who was wheelchair-reliant, reported CBS2's Art Barron. The woman's parents were also shot. One person in the van was gravely injured.

She said police would not say if weapons were found inside the Sylmar home.
No shots were fired between police and the person of interest.
