Suspicious Package Left In -- Or Near -- Lobby Of LAPD's Northeast Division

GLASSELL PARK (CBSLA.com) — Authorities said a suspicious package was left in -- or near -- the lobby of the LAPD's Northeast Division in Glassell Park.

Jeff Nguyen, reporting for CBS2, said that officials didn't want to say much more.

He said nearby residents were told there was a bomb threat with a street closure on North San Fernando Road between Fletcher Drive and Glendale Avenue.

Nguyen spoke to EMT Tyler Roach who said, "We were told it wasn't safe to return [to the station] and to stay tight, there was a bomb threat. And we need to be available for that."

EMT Jordan Rudman said, "Dispatch informed us that there was a bomb threat next to the station. Don't know a lot yet. Just hoping everything will be alright."

An unconfirmed report from the scene said that someone may have dropped off a grenade at the station and that the LAPD's Bomb Squad was examining the device.

[UPDATE: By 11:35 p.m. Sunday, Nguyen reported that the area got the all clear and San Fernando Road was re-opened. It is not clear what device was found.]
