Suspects Sought In Fatal Shooting Of 7-Eleven Clerk
HIGHLAND PARK (CBSLA.com) — Detectives sought the public's help Tuesday in providing any information on possible suspects in the shooting death in Highland Park.
38-year-old Gonzalo Perez was killed after the shooting on Sunday night around 10:25 p.m. at a 7-11 convenience store located in the 5100 block of North Figueroa Street, according to LAPD Northeast Homicide Detectives.
When the officers arrived, they found Perez lying on the floor with what appeared to be a gunshot wound, investigators said.
Los Angeles City Fire Department paramedics responded to the location and transported the victim to a local hospital for emergency medical treatment, according to authorities. Despite life-saving efforts, Perez died as a result of his injuries a short time later.
Investigators said Perez was working in the convenience store as suspects entered the location posing as customers. After the victim walked to the register to assist the suspects, the first suspect jumped over the counter and produced a handgun demanding money from the cash register, according to police.

When the victim walked away in an attempt to flee, the first suspect fired a shot, striking the victim, police said. The suspects fled the location.
The suspects were described as male blacks between the ages of 25-30 years old, according to police. No vehicle was reported seen with the suspects.
The LAPD is trying to determine if the Highland Park crime is linked to another 7-Eleven store robbery Sunday in Lincoln Heights. No injuries were reported in that incident.
