Suspects Arrested For Allegedly Causing Fatal Crash In Indio
INDIO (CBS) — Two men and two boys suspected of intentionally causing a fatal wreck in Indio are under arrest today, while a fifth suspect remains at large.
Thaddeus Jovan Holland, 20, Jose Jamie Valencia, 18, and Alejandro Guijarro and Isauro Vicencio, both 17, were arrested by Indio police detectives Tuesday on suspicion of murder, attempted murder and other allegations in connection with a crash that killed two women Thursday night. A fifth suspect, Alfonso Verduzco, 17, of Indio is being sought.
"Our investigation had timely results due to the cooperation of people that came forward, and this is what it takes to help law enforcement find the suspects responsible for their crimes," said Indio police Chief Bradley Ramos. "I want to thank our community for getting involved."
Coachella residents Linda Franco Dominguez, 34, and Andrea Arias Chavez, 36 both died when the sport utility vehicle they were driving smashed into a light pole around 11:25 pm Thursday. A man and another woman suffered serious injuries. A child strapped into a car seat escaped largely unscathed.
Indio Police Commander Ben Guitron would not elaborate on what allegedly precipitated the crash but the suspects are responsible for a gang-related confrontation.
Holland and Valencia are being held in lieu of $1 million bail at the Indio Jail. Guijarro and Vicencio were booked into Indio Juvenile Hall.
