Suspected Hit-And-Run Driver Strikes Bicyclist In Pacoima
PACOIMA (CBS) — Los Angeles police detectives arrested a suspected hit-and-run driver, who was allegedly driving under the influence when he fatally struck a boy riding a bicycle in Pacoima.
The accident happened at Laurel Canyon Boulevard and Chamberlain Street.
The victim was treated at the scene but later died at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills.
A videographer at the scene told City News Service the victim was a teenage boy, possibly 16 or 17 years old.
Shawn Fields, 26, was arrested on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while driving under the influence. He was released after posting bail and is scheduled to be in court on Oct. 27.
The victim's name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.
