DUI Suspect Kills Pedestrian In Anaheim
ANAHEIM (CBS) — A DUI suspect has been arrested for allegedly killing a pedestrian in Anaheim, police said Friday.
The deadly crash occurred around 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Rio Vista Street, just north of Lincoln Avenue, according to Sgt. Rick Martinez of the Anaheim Police Department.
Everardo Tapia, 58, died shortly after he was taken to a hospital, Martinez said.
Tapia was struck by a white Ford Econoline van that had been traveling southbound on Rio Vista Street at Hampstead Street, he said.
The driver, identified only as a 59-year-old man, had been drinking and was arrested and booked for suspicion of driving under the influence, Martinez said.
