Alleged Would-Be 7-Eleven Robber Shot By Gardena Police
GARDENA (CBSLA.com) — A man suspected in an attempted robbery of a 7-Eleven store has been shot by Gardena police.
The incident took place on the 800 block of 168th Street about 3:46 a.m. Sunday.
"We had a witness that was driving by and noticed that the 7-Eleven was being robbed and called police. Officers arrived on scene, gave chase to the two suspects," Gardena Police Lt. Steve Prendergast told KNX 1070's Ed Mertz.
Suspect wounded in officer-involved shooting in Gardena
"Shortly after that, an officer-involved shooting happened," Prendergast said.
The suspect, described as a Hispanic man, was taken to an area hospital with multiple gunshot wounds.
He is expected to survive, Prendergast said.
A second suspect, also a male Hispanic adult, was arrested.
Mertz reports a knife was recovered at the scene.
The 7-Eleven clerk and officers were not injured.
No further information was immediately known.
