A man was arrested in Las Vegas last week in connection with the deadly shooting of a 16-year-old boy in Long Beach in early-August, authorities said.

The shooting happened back on Aug. 4 in the 3300 block of 67th Street, according to the Long Beach Police Department. At that time, officers were sent to the area after learning of a person who had been shot in the street.

They arrived to find the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the upper and lower body. The boy, who has still not been identified, was a resident of Bell, authorities said.

Investigators say that the victim was dropped off at the home by a male relative prior to the shooting. After exiting the vehicle he returned a short time later and was being followed by an unknown group of people.

Moments later the shooting happened, striking both the boy and the relative's car. The relative fled from the area and called police. He suffered a minor injury to the upper body and was treated at the scene, police said.

By the time police arrived, the suspects had already fled.

During the course of their investigation, detectives identified 41-year-old Torrance man Ronald Guidry as a suspect. They obtained a warrant for his arrest and he was located by Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officers on Oct. 17, police said.

"Search warrants were subsequently served in the cities of Las Vegas, Moreno Valley, Rialto and Perris where items of evidence were located and recovered," Long Beach police said.

Investigators believe that the shooting was gang-related.
