Suspect Sought In Fatal Stabbing In Jefferson Park
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Authorities have identified a man who was fatally stabbed last week in Jefferson Park.
The stabbing was reported about 11:30 p.m. Friday in the 3300 block of West Jefferson Boulevard near 12th Avenue, according to Los Angeles police Lt. Hugh Fanfassian.
The victim, identified by the coroner's office as William Jennings, 35, of Los Angeles, was slashed once in the head and stabbed in the torso, Fanfassian said.
Jennings was pronounced dead at the scene. He is survived by his wife, an 11-year-old daughter and his step-son.
CBS2's Jeff Nguyen spoke with Jennings' wife, Tamesha Jennings, who is still in disbelief.
"My world is gone," she said.
"It's horrible that I have to say he's not here - or someone took his life - to whoever calls my phone to check on him."
Jennings' mother, Lynda Henry, said her son was a hard-working man, and asked that anyone with information about the incident come forward.
"He was a good father. A very good father," she said.
"Just turn him in. Turn him in... If it's your child what would you want someone to do?" she asked.
Detectives are seeking the public's assistance in identifying the suspect depicted in a surveillance video who appears to be black male, approximately 30-40 years old, between 5'8" and 6'0" and approximately 180 pounds.
