Suspect Sought In Attempted Sexual Assault On Elderly Palmdale Woman
PALMDALE (CBS) — Detectives sought the public's help on Tuesday in their search for a suspect attempted to sexually assault a 74-year-old woman.
The alleged attempt occurred on Sunday, September 11 at around 3:00 p.m. when an elderly woman sat at a bus stop outside of a Vallarta supermarket on 18th Street and Palmdale Boulevard.
The suspect, who was parked in the Antelope Valley Bank parking lot, called the victim over to his vehicle and offered to drive her home.
As the two drove towards the victim's residence, the suspect allegedly began making sexual advances toward the victim.
When the victim refused his advances, the suspect parked the car in a nearby closed business complex, where he attempted to sexually assault her.
After the victim would not leave the car, the suspect allegedly began beating the victim with a closed fists and a blunt object.
Once the victim began screaming, the suspect fled the location in his vehicle, leaving the victim with severe jaw and head injuries.
Fearing her attacker would return and unfamiliar with the neighborhood, the victim boarded a nearby bus headed for her home, where she described the encounter to her family.
The suspect's vehicle is described as a wine-colored, late model Toyota single cab pickup truck with two bucket seats in the cab instead of a bench.
Detectives said the suspect is a Hispanic male between 50 and 60 years old with a light complexion and light-colored eyes.
