Suspect Sketch Released In Nuevo Mother, Daughter Slayings
NUEVO (CBSLA.com) — Riverside County Sheriff's have released the sketch of a suspect wanted in connection with the murders of a mother and a daughter who were killed Monday while walking in Nuevo, a rural community east of Perris.
Riverside County sheriff's investigators said the attack happened just after 5 p.m. at Menifee Road and Central Avenue in Nuevo.
"It was daylight… the sun had not set yet when the crime occurred," said Capt. Scot Collins.
Collins said both victims died from serious traumatic injuries.
Tuesday, authorities identified the mother as 51-year-old Maria Gonzalez and her 25-year-old daughter Connie Gonzalez.
The younger woman was declared dead at the scene. The mother was declared dead at Menifee Valley Medical Center.
Authorities are searching for a suspect they described as a Hispanic man in his early 20s who was wearing dark clothing.
"(Witnesses said) he fled the area on foot. Detectives are still working the case to determine who the suspect is and what the motive is," said Collins.
