Driver Leads Police On Wild Chase In Malibu
MALIBU (CBS) — A suspect led police on a high-speed pursuit and then took off on foot along a well-traveled segment of Pacific Coast Highway.
CBS2 reporter Stu Mundel was overhead when the woman drove her Audi into the side of the road at 8:20 p.m., near Geoffrey's restaurant.
The woman got out of the car and ran for about 50 yards before an officer tackled her to the ground. The officer made sure to drag the suspect off the road as a bus drew near and handcuffed the woman.
Officers originally pulled over the driver on the 10 Freeway because her registration was reportedly expired. The woman drove off, reaching speed well above 80 miles per hour, on the winding lanes of PCH before pulling over.
