Suspect In Brazen Northridge Home-Invasion Robbery Arrested At Nearby Bank
NORTH HILLS (CBSLA.com) — A man was arrested Wednesday evening in connection with a brazen home-invasion robbery.
KCAL9's Stu Mundel was overhead in Sky9 as the suspect was arrested in the parking lot of a Bank of America branch in the 8700 block of Balboa Boulevard.
The suspect is accused of tying up a man and woman at their home in the 9700 block of Aldea Avenue and stealing their green SUV, which was recovered at the bank.
The man may been trying to use an ATM card that was stolen during the robbery, according to KCAL9's Rob Schmitt.
The couple's daughter arrived home and was able to untie her parents and call police. She also told authorities to look for the suspect at the bank, where he was later found.
Images from Sky9 show that the suspect had a gun, wire and tape in vehicle he took from the victims' residence.
Neighbors said they have seen the suspect, whose own vehicle was described as a red sedan with Arizona plates, in the neighborhood before.
