Suspect Arrested In North Hollywood After High-Speed Freeway Chase
NORTH HOLLYWOOD (CBS) — A high-speed pursuit along two freeways ended on Wednesday with the driver in custody.
The pursuit began on the southbound Golden State (5) Freeway began on the freeway at Smokey Bear Road along the Newhall Pass at approximately 2:20 p.m. after officers had initially attempted to pull over the driver for speeding, according to California Highway Patrol.
After hitting speeds well over 100 miles per hour, the driver then got onto the southbound Hollywood (170) Freeway near the North Hollywood area, CHP Officer Christian Cracraft said.
He then exited the 170 Freeway at Burbank Boulevard, pulled into a business parking lot and fled on foot.
Following a brief search, the driver was taken into custody at 2:55 p.m.
