Supervisor Wants To Offer $10K Reward For Capture Of Reagan Statue Vandals
RIVERSIDE (CBSLA.com) — A Riverside County supervisor wants the county to post a $10,000 reward for the capture of the person or persons who torched a bronze statue of former President Ronald Reagan at a Temecula park earlier this month.
The 1-year-old life-size statue at Ronald Reagan Sports Park was set on fire Sept. 20.
No suspects have been identified and the park doesn't have security cameras.
"It's despicable that someone would intentionally damage a public work of art that honors President Reagan," Supervisor Jeff Stone said. "The people who would do something like this need to know we will take unusual measures to make sure they are caught and punished."
Stone will ask the Board of Supervisors to approve the reward at a meeting on Oct. 8.
