Supermodel's Attorneys To Argue For Continuation Of Defamation Lawsuit Against Bill Cosby
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The attorneys for supermodel Janice Dickinson are set to argue that her defamation lawsuit against Bill Cosby should be allowed to proceed, and that the comedian and his former attorney should face deposition.
While Cosby's legal team looks to dismiss the defamation lawsuit on grounds of violating the first amendment, Dickinson's lawyers have stated their need to question Cosby and his former lead attorney, Martin Singer.
Dickinson maintains that Cosby raped her in 1982, and she was accused of making up her story by Cosby's representatives.
The supermodel spoke out recently, after newly-unsealed court documents revealed Cosby had admitted to giving Quaaludes to at least one woman prior to sex.
"I will not feel vindicated until Cosby personally acknowledges to each and every one of us what he has done with his sins," Dickinson stated.
Dickinson's story is similar to the accusations of approximately 50 other women, who have come forward to accuse the comedian. She has said the denials by Cosby's camp have caused her embarrassment, humiliation, and have led to her being re-victimized.
Her attorneys additional plan to cite a recent court decision in Massachusetts, in which another defamation lawsuit from other accusers was allowed to proceed.
