'CicLAvia' Drawing Tens of Thousands To Heart Of LA
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Tens of thousands of bicyclists and pedestrians have a portion of downtown Los Angeles to themselves during the city's eighth CicLAvia event.
CicLAvia Heart of LA closed 7.5 miles through downtown Los Angeles, the Westlake District, Chinatown, and Boyle Heights to motorized traffic.

Street closures until 4 p.m. Sunday include portions of Spring Street, Broadway, Boyle Avenue, Central Avenue and First, Fourth, Seventh and Ninth streets. The course has 12 crossing points for vehicle traffic.
Anchor hubs featuring pedestrian zones with performers, food trucks and more are situated in Chinatown, Grand Park, Mariachi Plaza, MacArthur Park and the African American Firefighter Museum.
CicLAvia also includes walking tours of Chinatown led by Charlie Phoenix, an American pop culture historian. The tours begin at noon and cost $39 per person with proceeds going toward CicLAvia.

"I think people just really want a chance to do something difference and experience the city in a completely different way and this turns everything completely upside down," founder and executive director Aaron Paley told KNX 1070.
CicLAvia is open to the public and free of charge. Registration is not required and there is no start or end point along the route.
