Summer Infant Recalls 800K Baby Monitors Due To Overheating Risk

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Summer Infant, Inc., has announced the voluntary recall of roughly 800,000 baby video monitors.

"The battery in certain handheld video monitors can overheat and rupture, posing a burn hazard to consumers," according to the company.

So far, there have been 22 reports of overheated batteries, including smoke and property damage.

The affected batteries are in color monitors and are marked with "TCL" on the lower right corner. They can be found in products that were sold between 2010 and 2012 at retailers across the country.

"Consumers should remove the battery and complete the online form to receive a replacement battery. The monitor can continue to be used on AC power with power cord," according to Summer Infant.
