Study Ranks Caltech 2nd Among World's Top Schools
LOS ANGELES (CBS 2/KNX 1070) — A study published in the London-based Times Higher Education magazine has given several Southland universities some high honors.
Caltech was declared the second-best university in the world, according to the study.
The margin of difference between No. 2 Caltech and No. 1 Harvard was 0.1 percent on a 1 to 100 scale.
The world university rankings list rates schools in five categories: the influence of research, quality of teaching, volume of research, staff and student diversity and how well knowledge is passed on.
As for UCLA and USC; UCLA's 87.7 percent made it the eleventh best university in the world and the eighth best in the U.S.
USC was rated 73rd in the world and 48th in the U.S.
