Stolen Dodgers World Series Ring Found
LA VERNE (CBS) — Police say they've recovered former Dodger Jimmy Campanis' 1988 World Series championship ring and have the thief in custody.
Frank Carrillo, 40, was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of grand theft and possession of stolen property, La Verne police officials said. Carrillo is being held at the La Verne police station on $40,000 bail.
Carrillo is believed to be behind several thefts at the Sierra La Verne Country Club during September and October, according to the Whittier Daily News. Carrillo also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest from the Upland Police Department, in connection with thefts from the Upland Hills Golf Course.
Campanis reported his World Series ring stolen from a golf bag Monday in Chino Hills, as he participated in a charity golf event.
The ring was recovered while serving a warrant at an Azusa house, according to the newspaper.
Campanis, whose father was the late Dodgers general manager Al Campanis, made brief appearances for the Dodgers from 1966 to 1968 before being traded.
