'Stick Figure Bandit' On The Loose
ALISO VIEJO (CBS) — Authorities Wednesday are looking for the "Stick Figure Bandit," whose latest heist was at a credit union in Aliso Viejo.
The robber held up the Schools First Federal Credit Union branch just before closing at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Orange County sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino said. The credit union branch is located inside a Stater Bros. supermarket at 26892 La Paz Road.
"The suspect displayed a handgun in the waistband of his pants and stated that if they didn't give him money in 20 seconds, he would start shooting," Amormino said. "He's called the Stick Figure bandit because he's tall and skinny."
The robber made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
The bandit is also suspected of robbing a Wells Fargo branch in a Stater Bros. store in Placentia last Thursday, and "he may be connected to five or six robberies in grocery stores in Riverside County," Amormino said.
The suspect is described as a white man in his 20s to 30s, 6-feet1-inch and about 170 pounds. He was wearing a checkered shirt and baseball cap in his latest heist.
