Starbucks To Boost Prices By Up To 30 Cents Per Beverage
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Get ready to dig a little deeper into your pocket for a cup of coffee, latte or ice tea at Starbucks if you have not already.
The coffee chain announced it plans to hike the price on select beverages on July 12, according to the company's website. But it did not reveal how much of an increase to expect.
Meanwhile, the company announced that it prematurely put into place a price hike that was meant to take effect on July 12.
"Unfortunately, that price adjustment was prematurely entered into the point of sale systems in our U.S. company-operated stores. As a result, some customers were charged incorrectly. The maximum any customer could have been overcharged is 30 cents per beverage," the coffee giant revealed Friday.
Starbucks said it has corrected the error.
Affected customers are urged to contact the company's customer service at (800) 782-7282. Starbucks said "we will gladly make this right."
For the last two years, the company has raised prices in the first week of July. But the coffee chain was forced to announce this year's hike early after it accidentally put the higher prices into effect too soon, according to Eater.
